It's time for some 'Wild Education'!
Close Encounters of the Wild Kind

In addition to the many wonderful outreach programs, TreeHouse is now up and running with the option for on-site education
programs. These opportunities provide another venue for educating the public about native wildlife and wildlife rehabilitation,
preservation of natural habitat, as well as the environmental impact that our choices have on the health of our planet
and its creatures.

Field trips are available, as well as a special class for young children called Nature Nuts are two great
ways for kids to find about the wild world around them.

Tours
Planning Spring Field Trips???
Consider TreeHouse Wildlife Center

TreeHouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of native American wildlife through rehabilitation
and environmental education and is located in Dow, Illinois.

TreeHouse Tours are available by appointment only for groups of 12 or more, Spring through Fall. Groups touring the
center will have the opportunity to observe former animal patients who are now permanent residents as part of our
education program. Interpretive naturalists explain the natural history of each animal on the tour and describe the role
that each one has at TreeHouse.

Contact Kaeta Cronin, Education Director, to schedule a field trip at (618) 466-2990, or send an email to
treehouse.kaeta@gmail.com

Nature Nuts

Nature Nuts is for children, ages 3 to 5, who love to explore in the Great Outdoors.
Each session includes an outdoor activity, a story, a themed craft and a snack.

Outreach Programs

Outreach Programs are another part of our commitment to education. Programs are specifically designed for school
assemblies, classrooms, senior citizen centers, service organizations and clubs for all age groups. The outreach
programs utilize animals in our permanent resident program (mostly raptors) combined with discussion of the natural
histories of native species. A slide presentation with further information about our facility, our mission, and our patients
completes the program.

A message from the director:

"I have started a blog online where I will be posting patient updates. Many of you have been instrumental in the
success of this lab, either by bringing us sick or injured turtles, or by volunteering time, money, and supplies.
I thank all of you as you are what makes this work possible. This semester we have 6 students working in the lab and
in the field collecting data, trapping and tracking turtles and taking care of the patients in the lab.

I really appreciate your support and welcome you to visit our blog and post questions or comments.

All my best,

Beth Walton"
