This poor Great Horned Owl was found dangling in fishing line at Carlyle Lake in Clinton
County, IL. Fortunately, although he was severely dehydrated and obviously injured,
he was brought to TreeHouse and recovered nicely.
Below are pictures of his release.
It's so important to make sure your fishing line is retrieved (when possible) as owls and
other raptors who fly low can get caught and be severely injured and die, if not found in
time.
TreeHouse Wildlife Center encourages everyone to be responsible and courteous
when visiting our wild neighbor's homes to help prevent these types of happenings.
Often times, animals are in need of surgery to save their lives. TreeHouse Wildlife Center works closely
with veterinarians who donate their time to the center and perform the necessary surgeries. Without
proper veterinarian care, many of these animals would not be able to be returned to their wild habitat.

"Love of animals is a universal impulse, a common ground on which all of us may
meet. By loving and understanding animals, perhaps we humans shall come to
understand each other." - Dr Louis J. Camuti
This poor bird was hit by a car and drug for a distance
before the driver realized what had happened.
Unfortunately, it had to be humanely euthanized.
